サードカルチャーキッズ "Third Culture Kids"

その昔はアメリカ軍やミッショナリ―家族で国外を移動し続けるこどもたちを主にさしていました。しかし今はもっと広く親の国、文化以外のところで育つこどもたちを表すようになったようです。

「TCKは親が育った国、文化と異なった場所で成長する」という広義の意味では、この国にいる多くの日本の駐在員の方々のお子さんもTCKといえるのでないでしょうか。

★TCKは人生の早い時期から多文化、多言語環境におかれ、
　　自分、又は周りの人の「移動」が日常である世界で育ち、

★多くは国や会社のサポートを受け恵まれた生活を送り、将来は親の国にもどる。

この様に、TCKは普通に日本で生まれ育った親である私たち（もちろん、自らがTCKであった方もいらっしゃると思いますが。。。）とは全く異なる経験をしています。

つまり、私たちは「自分たちの知らない世界でこどもを育てている。」のです。
すごいことですよね。

色々と学んでみたい、と思いませんか？　＾＾

  The term "Third Culture Kids" originally was used for children of missionary families or US Military families who relocated often for oversea postings. But now, it is more widely used to refer to children who are being raised outside their parents' country or culture. 

--- TCKids are placed in the multicultural, and multilingual environment from their early years and were raised in the world where mobility of themselves or others around them is a normal part of their lives.....

 --- Most of TCKs  live very comfortable lives often supported by government,  or companies, and will repatriate to their parents' country in the future...    

 Therefore, their life experiences are totally different from how their parents grew up .(Of course you maybe an adult TCK who have become parents now, and know exactly what's going on with your child.) 
  
  But in general, most or us are parenting without any knowledge of such experience.     

  I found it a little unsettling, and felt an urge to learn more about what they are going through and how to assist them as a parent.
